Movie Review–Killers
Aug 4th
I usually give good rating to every movie I watch but once in a while I come across a movie which is really bad. Killers is one such bad movie. I was expecting this movie to be really funny after all Ashton Kutcher is the lead actor. But I was wrong and I was very disappointed with the movie. Spencer (Ashton Kutcher) is a spy and he kills people for a living and he is good at it. In Nice, France he falls in love with Jen (Katherine Heigl) who has a normal life. Spencer walks out of the job and marries Jen. They are now settled and have been living in a nice and quiet neighbourhood for three years.
One morning after a party every neighbour is trying to kill Ashton. The story gets very ridiculous here. The quite neighbours who have never seen a gun are now using military grade weapons to kill Spencer on whose head there is a bounty of 10 million dollars. Even when a sub machine gun is fitted in a quiet neighbourhood not even a cop responds. Ashton is killing his neighbours who are trying to kill him to get 10 million dollars; the bodies are all over the place still no cops. Killers is a silly, stupid movie. It is not worth your time. I’d give the movie 2/5 because both Ashton and Katherine look really hot.
The Time Traveller’s Wife [Movie Review]
Jul 17th
I wasn’t expecting this to be a very good movie but I was wrong. This movie is based on Audrey Niffenegger’s 2003 novel of the same name. It’s a love story, it has a scientific element in it and it also shows the strain which is caused by distance in relationship.
[Spoiler Alert : skip the next two paragraph]
Henry has a genetic disorder because of which he time travels but he does not have any control over it. He doesn’t know when he’ll be travelling or where he will be arriving. He is naked when he arrives back in time or in the future. He steals cloths form the first person he meets and money form someone and waits to travel back into the present. In these travels he meets his mother and Clare, who is his future wife.
Henry first meets Clare when she was a child and Clare is madly in love with him since then…. In the present Henry proposes her and she agrees to marry him but he again time travels and Henry from the future attends the wedding again the Henry form future time travels leaving Clare alone on the wedding night…….. the unannounced time travelling creates a strain in their relationship but they love each other very much for it to cause any real problem. Clare miscarries two times leading to the suspicion if the baby is also has the time travelling genetic disorder. The third time the baby is born and they name her Alba. Henry come to know form his daughter Alba who is also a time traveller but has control over where she goes that he is going to die when she is turns 5.
Eric Bana does brilliant acting and he keeps the story emotionally tense throughout. The chemistery between Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams is great and worth watching. Even the supporting artists have played their part well.
The movie’s picturesque cinematography, the well put together story and the brilliant acting makes every second of the movie enjoyable. You hope that Henry finds some way to survive….. The movie has a bittersweet ending but then every movie cannot have a happy ever after ending.
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince : Movie Review
Jul 18th
Our beloved Harry and his friends have grown a year older. They have passed their OWLs with good marks and are now NEWT level students. They have grown older is emphasized through out the movie, they have started noticing girls (a lot) and love seems to be constantly in the air.

Harry is now a confident young man, he seems to have accepted the unpleasant facts and the inevitable. He is no longer the kid who stumbles into things, he’s now Dumbledore’s right hand man, knows he’s the chosen one and is trying to live up to the name. Dumbledore and Harry are trying to fight Voldemort but for that the secret memory of Horace Slughorn is needed. Harry’s mission is to get that memory without which nothing is possible. Draco Malfoy is getting inattentive, and is up to no good. and then there is the prince, nobody knows who the mysterious prince is.
The cast have grown with the characters and are now the master of their characters. Everyone has done a great job particularly Daniel Radcliffe who is every bit Harry Potter and has shown great comic timing. Michael Gambon (Dumbledore) and Jim Broadbent steal the show with the portrayal of gentler side of dotage. Alan Rickman is powerful as ever and has only brief appearances despite his key role in the movie.
Emma Watson, Rupert Grint have also performed well. Rupert especially a very comic actor, his acting as a love sick boy was very humorous.
The directing and visuals in this one are marvelous. David Yates gives his best directing in his career to date, and does an amazing job of telling the storyline of J.K Rowling’s fantastic book. The visual effects are so well done and look so real. The cinematography sets the tone for the whole movie right from start to finish, and turns the series in a even darker direction.
There are also moments which are scary, overall this the the first Harry Potter film which feels the most accomplished.
Stuff the movie missed out –
This is my favorite section while reviewing movies based on books, in this section I merely tell you the things that was in the book but not in the movie.
- No The Other Minister, we aren’t shown the minister of muggle’s or Cornelius Fudge or the newly appointed Rufus Scrimgeour.
- The departure from The Dursley’s .
- We don’t get to see the breathtaking beauty Fleur Delacour.
- Harry’s detention with Snape is mysteriously absent.
- The romance between Harry and Ginny is surprisingly small.
- The kiss between Harry and Ginny should have been longer.
- Where did the half of The Lightning –Stuck Tower go? There was a nice fight after Dumbledore is killed.
- After the movie my friend said the ending felt rather abrupt, of course it was abrupt – it had two chapters missing, The Phoenix Lament & The White Tomb.
- Two new scenes were added that do not appear in the book: The collapsing Millenium bridge (at the beginning of the film, and which appears in the Third Trailer) and the Death Eater attack at the Burrow (seen in the second trailer). An attack on a Muggle bridge is actually mentioned in the original opening of the book by Cornelius Fudge, but not shown.
Hopefully the rather sad funeral of Dumbledore will be shown in the next movie Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows 1. It is really good that the last book is being made into two movie so they’ll be able to do justice to it.
What do you think…. tell me in the comments.
