Happy Pi day
Mar 14th
We geeks and mathematics around the world celebrate March 14th as Pi day.
=3.1415926535… Today is also the birthday of Albert Einstein. (14 March 1879) We celebrate Pi minute also, which occurs on March 14 at 1:59pm.
The logic behind Pi minute is
truncated to seven decimal places – 3.1415926 that is March 14, 1:59:26pm is Pi minute. (I published this post on 1:59pm)
Pi day was founded by Larry Shaw who is a now-retired physicist at the Exploratorium and he still helps out with the celebrations.
Ok. Wait a minute. How exactly do we celebrate Pi day? … By eating pie and talking about
in geek terms. You can also purchase Pi stuff like T-shirts, clocks, mini pi buttons, Pi mugs for your geek friends or yourself.

10 billion Downloads and counting….
Feb 25th
There is no denying that iTunes is the most popular stop for all music downloads. A few hours ago iTunes hit the 10,000,000,000 mark….WOW!!! Although it has competitors like Comes With Music, Spotify etc. they are not making any dent in the iTunes business. These figures clearly indicate that Apple iTunes is going strong and currently I don’t see any reason it’ll slow down.
What I’m really interested to see is whether the iBook Store would be as successful as iTunes store.
FarmVille has 80 million farmers
Feb 21st
FarmVillie, the hugely popular Facebook game now has more than 80 million active users. Around 10 million people are getting hooked-up to FarmVillie every month. It has a user count of 30 million every day!
Some impressive stats, huh? No wonder I see FarmVillie in my Facebook timeline all the time. Most of my friends are in facebook just to play FarmVillie. It has also won the “Social Networking Game of the Year” award.
So if you are not already playing FarmVille, Go Play It.

Run Windows 7 in iPad
Feb 3rd
At the time iPad was announced I tweeted that it would be cool if one could use Windows 7 in iPad. It seems my wish was answered.
Citrix Systems, an American multinational corporation with a focus on software and services specialized in virtualization for delivering applications over a network and the internet.
Did you notice the last line? – over a network – Windows 7 will not/cannot be installed in iPad, it will run from a server and will be simply displayed on iPad.
This is done via the citrix system’s desktop virtualization platform XenDextop or XenApp.
According to Chris Fleck, the company’s vice president of Community and Solutions Development, any windows application will run unmodified and securely in data center and you’d be able to multitask also.
I suspect there will be loss of performance because all the "over the network" and "virtualization" thing.
For now lets wait and see how things shape up.
