My trip to Bangalore…
Apr 19th
Hello everyone, If you follow me on twitter you’ll know that I went on a short trip to Bangalore. I just reached home and am writing this as ovi maps user story. I hope I’ll finish it in time before the contest ends.
I used Ovi Maps very extensively during my trip, I used it discover new places, find places of interest, get the shortest route for reaching there etc. I used my Nokia N97 more than ever during this trip, It was the only way I was connected to internet, I was getting my emails via Nokia Messaging, staying connected with my social networking circle of twitter, facebook, foursquare via Gravity and snaptu. Listening to podcasts, taking photos and videos, uploading them to facebook, twitter etc. I followed the launch of three new devices by Nokia on twitter, I watched movies on my N97. In short this device was helping me in a lot of ways.
First day I wanted to do some shopping so I fired up Ovi Maps and looked for Malls, it showed me many malls I chose the one closest to me, cause I was tired and didn’t want to travel a lot on the first day. The name of the mall was Total -
After shopping I was hungry and Ovi Maps showed me the location of Pizza Hut… I had an All American Pan Pizza and stuffed crust Pizza… yummy.
The next day I went to Innovative Film city –
This place was 50 km away from where I was staying so I was a little unwilling to go, I was thinking – what if Ovi maps messed up and I got lost ::scary:: But I didn’t get lost, Ovi Maps worked good, I reached there in 2 hours without getting lost
Ovi Maps presented me with multiple ways to reach Innovative film city and I chose the slowest way which had minimum traffic. The film city was great. It had Ripley’s believe it or not, mirror maze, haunted house, 4D shows, miniature city, game center, wax museum, fossil museum, a beach etc. I really enjoyed it there. Here are some pics –
The next day I went to Mysore which is around 100 Km away from my place, ovi maps worked well here too, I chose the shortest route even though there was lot of traffic in that route. Mysore is a really good city and this place has an historic importance too, According to Hindu mythology, the area around Mysore was known as Mahish?ru and was ruled by a demon, Mahishasura. The demon was killed by the Goddess Chamundeshwari, whose temple is situated atop the Chamundi Hills. It is also the place where the Tipu Sultan was killed by British.
First stop was at a place called Shrirangapatanam, quite a mouthful isn’t it
this place had the palace, museum, fort, jail of Tipu Sultan, it is also the resting place of Tipu Sultan.
From there we went to Mysore hills and the palace – inside the palace the camera was not allowed so no pics
but I took other pics also.
then we went to the Mysore Zoo -
and the final location was the Mysore garden – vrindavan, It was night by then so I didn’t take any pics. It was 1 am when I reached back home, It was a good decision to take a spare battery for my N97 cause all the photography, and using Ovi Maps had completely drained N97’s battery.
The next day I went to visit some of my relatives living there, I had their location saved in ovi maps, so I had no difficulty in finding their house.
I boarded the train back to Nagpur on 18 and reached my home on 19…. that is today. My N97 and Ovi Maps helped me a lot in the trip…. without it I would have been lost…. Thumbs UP to Nokia for making Ovi Maps and navigation free.
Don’t Mess with Old People

HOW TO CALL THE POLICE WHEN YOU’RE OLD
AND DON’T MOVE FAST ANYMORE.
George Phillips, an elderly man, from Meridian , Mississippi , was going up to bed, when his wife told him that he’d left the light on in the garden shed, which she could see from the bedroom window. George opened the back door to go turn off the light, but saw that there were people in the shed stealing things.
He phoned the police, who asked "Is someone in your house?" He said "No," but some people are breaking into my garden shed and stealing from me.
Then the police dispatcher said "All patrols are busy. You should lock your doors and an officer will be along when one is available.."
George said, "Okay."
He hung up the phone and counted to 30. Then he phoned the police again.
"Hello, I just called you a few seconds ago because there were people stealing things from my shed.. Well, you don’t have to worry about them now because I just shot and killed them both, the dogs are eating them right now." and he hung up.
Within five minutes, six Police Cars, a SWAT Team, a Helicopter, two Fire Trucks, a Paramedic, and an Ambulance showed up at the Phillips’ residence, and caught the burglars red-handed.
One of the Policemen said to George, "I thought you said that you’d shot them!"
George said, "I thought you said there was nobody available!"
I LOVE IT! Don’t mess with old people.
