ptolemys-gate Yes.. I have finally read Book 3 of The Bartimaeus Trilogy and it indeed is a fitting end to the story of Bartimaeus and his master Nathaniel. I am trying my best here to keep this review spoiler free because this is a must-read book and I don’t want to ruin it for people who have not read it yet.

In a trilogy, the third book is always the most important because it has to bring the story to a satisfying conclusion. In this book we learn more about Bartimaeus’s past and his affection towards one of his masters. We get to see Nathaniel questioning himself, unsure of what he turned out to be and kitty plays a very important role which saves the day.

Nathaniel is now the Minister of Information or Misinformation to be more precise. He is in a powerful position and has many enemies. He is still lusting for more power and position. He is popular and girls swoon over him. He is attracted particularly towards one girl (which changes later in the story). He is still using Bartimaeus for some or the other thing. Bartimaeus has not been dismissed for so long that his essence has dwindled to almost nothing and he needs to return to the Other Place to at least recharge and get back his energies. Bartimaeus even in his weakened state remains witty.

I am really glad that @akshay recommended this book to me. If you like fantasy, then this book should definitely be in your read later list.

My Rating: 4/5.
